Celebrating the organisations accelerating action in health tech

This International Women’s Day, Silver Buck’s #healthtechconnect is proud to celebrate the organisations accelerating action in health tech.

We’re shining a spotlight on just a few of the many organisations which are breaking barriers and creating pathways for women in the industry:

🔹 One HealthTech: One HealthTech is a global, volunteer-led community dedicated to making health, care and life sciences more equitable, inclusive and accessible. It supports women and other under-represented groups in health innovation by promoting inclusive leadership and diversity. The organisation advocates for greater diversity and inclusion in the health tech sector, which benefits women by pushing for systemic changes that address gender disparities. It hosts events like community hangouts and specialist network meetings and shares news and blog posts related to health innovation.

🔹 The Shuri Network: The Shuri Network is an NHS-supported network for women from minority ethnic groups in digital health. Its mission is to ensure the digital workforce and leadership reflect the diversity of the wider health and care system. They aim to increase the visibility of women from ethnic minorities, offer professional development opportunities, challenge the NHS to reduce discrimination, and highlight successful role models. The network has received several awards for its work in promoting equality and diversity. Membership is free and open to all who support
their aims.

🔹 Tech She Can: This charity is dedicated to achieving equal representation of women in the technology sector. It collaborates with industry, government and schools to encourage girls and young women to pursue technology-related education and careers. They provide free educational resources, connect young adults with relatable role models, advocate for change through research and partnerships, celebrate success stories, and work with leaders to promote inclusive policies. Ultimately, they aim to ensure technology works for all by having women equally involved in its creation and development.

🔹 Equity Charter:  The Equity Charter focuses on promoting equity within the digital health sector by addressing racism, discrimination, and inequities. It was co-founded by Ayesha Rahim, Victoria Betton, and Hassan Chaudhury and developed through collaboration with over 1,000 individuals and 60 organisations. The Charter outlines 10 principles aimed at embedding equity into leadership, policies, digital strategies, research, innovation, and the design of digital products and algorithms. It also emphasises equitable health outcomes for underserved communities. The principles was formally launched at Rewired 2025, with actionable steps provided to help individuals and organisations implement them effectively.

🔹 Let’s Fund More Women: This community advocates for increased government grant funding for women entrepreneurs. With over 1,000 members from top women-in-business networks, it focuses on three key goals:
Securing a larger share of government funds for women innovators
Simplifying the grant application process to reduce its burden on business operations
Ensuring inclusive and fair assessment of applications by knowledgeable evaluators.

The group actively engages policymakers, such as during the investHER-UK meeting at the Houses of Parliament, and contributes data-driven insights through Innovate UK Round Tables to drive actionable change. Their mission is to amplify women’s voices in innovation and achieve equity in
funding access.

Together, these organisations are reshaping the future of health technology – thank you for your impact and commitment to gender equity in tech.
