Cancer services across health and care are struggling to deal with backlogs, workforce shortages, and escalating costs which are impacting cancer survival rates and the quality of care being delivered. With over 10,000 people with suspected cancer currently waiting more than 104 days to see a clinician, Careology was on a mission to solve this through its patient facing app.

The issue Careology faced was a lack of media coverage and awareness to truly support patients across the UK. It needed help establishing its solution within the cancer care space and wanted to own the term ‘digital cancer care’.


Silver Buck worked with Careology over 12 months to grow its presence in the UK and establish itself as the go-to digital cancer care support tool. A multichannel PR and comms approach was taken to grow its profile. This included hijacking the news to ensure Careology was front and centre of emerging stories around cancer wait times and having 16 comments featured in high profile publications. Silver Buck also drafted several thought leadership pieces and landed 4 press releases in trade and regional press, including an interview with BBC Radio Norfolk. Speaking opportunities and submissions to high profile awards allowed Careology to significantly raise its profile and establish itself as a thought leader across digital cancer care. All of which has considerably raised Careology’s profile among key stakeholders.


Since July 2022, Careology has seen a significant boost in recognition for their brand and has more prospective leads to grow their business. In just 14 months , Siver Buck has gained over 160 pieces of coverage with over 8 million impressions through PR opportunities for Careology including national coverage with the BBC.

Press coverage helped Careology build relationships with key stakeholders in the cancer community, including NHS Cancer Alliances, which will be invaluable as Careology continues to grow and expand its services. Through the coverage for the campaign promoting Careology’s partnership with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, the company was also contacted by a VC Investor which helped them to gain further funding for the business and an inclusion in the Department of International Trade’s 2023 UK Digital Health Playbook.
