All I want for Christmas is…with the Silver Buccaneers.

From Peloton bikes to digital Covid immunity passports — we asked our Silver Buccaneers about their Christmas wish-list and their hopes and resolutions for 2021.

Sam Shah

Best bit of 2020? Rewired 2020: this was the last digital health event that I went to in person.

What won’t you miss about 2020? I won’t miss the Covid restrictions either socially or in clinical practice.

What you’ve asked for Christmas in the digital health world and personally? Citizen access to their health records so that they can more easily access any provider and a stable internet connection.

What’s your New Year’s resolution? To try and write more and take out some time to start training again.

What health tech/digital health will define 2021? A digital Covid immunity passport will probably define 2021.

Dr. Mala Mawkin

Best bit of 2020? The vaccine!

What won’t you miss about 2020? The toilet roll shortage…

What you’ve asked for Christmas in the digital health world and personally? I would love to see the fantastic tech that is built getting into the hands of the patients and healthcare providers that need it the most! Personally, some more pyjamas for the work-from-home style.

What’s your New Year’s resolution? To attempt to make sure I leave the house every day for some fresh air during work-from-home.

What health tech/digital health will define 2021? Chronic conditions-100%! How do we treat the thousands of people in society that have missed out on healthcare appointments and treatments due to the pandemic? It is what we are looking at in chronic pain with Leva Clinic…!

Dominic Cushnan

Best bit of 2020? Running the NHS AI Lab during the pandemic and developing and establishing a National Covid Chest Imaging Database for AI development and research.

What won’t you miss about 2020? Not being able to get married, I would have been married in September.

What you’ve asked for Christmas in the digital health world and personally? More networked collaboration. Personally? To get married in 2021.

What’s your New Year’s resolution? Attempt a zero inbox policy, and get out and exercise.

What health tech/digital health will define 2021? More use of ‘AI’ to support healthcare progress in data science capabilities.

Sarah Amani

Best bit of 2020? Doing my first solo camping trip.

What won’t you miss about 2020? Back to back Zoom meetings.

What you’ve asked for Christmas in the digital health world and personally? A Peloton bike.

What’s your New Year’s resolution? To ride my eBike more, regardless of the weather.

What health tech/digital health will define 2021? Virtual Reality (VR) and holograms.

Rich Corbridge

Best bit of 2020? Being able to deliver differently, quickly, meaningfully, with a real sense of purpose because everyone has pulled in the same direction to get answers right with a customer focus and the end in mind.

What won’t you miss about 2020? Enforced working from home, I ‘love it’ but not as the only way to work, I miss connectivity to people a huge amount.

What you’ve asked for Christmas in the digital health world and personally? In digital health, clarity on how the different organisations work together to support the delivery of healthcare in the UK. Personally, a return to being out and about as a family, dinner out and a sunny holiday!

What’s your New Year’s resolution? To keep hold of a growth mindset about me and what I want to learn and find new ways every month to learn more.

What health tech/digital health will define 2021? I don’t think it will be one piece of tech, it will be people coming together to solve problems with a multiplicity of tech, vaccines will be supported by technology that drives data integration, this will be seen to be even more important than ever before.
